JOB TITLE: Certified Surgical Technologist
DEPARTMENT: Surgery
JOB SUMMARY: Assists in nursing care activities and institutional services in the operating room under the direction of a Registered Nurse and according to departmental policies. Performs “scrub” duties and specific institutional nursing services duties appropriate and authorized by the situation. OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Class I.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Education: High School graduate or equivalent. Graduate of a Surgical Technology program.
B. Personal Job-Related Skills: Knowledge of surgical scrub duties preferred. The ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions.
C. Licensure, Registry or Certification: Certification as a Surgical Technologist.
D. Experience:
1. Prior Work Experience: Operating Room experience preferred.
2. Technical Training: Surgical Technology program.
E. Physical and Mental Requirements: Duties of the position require extended periods of standing and walking. Bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, pulling, and pushing when handling instruments. Must be able to manipulate, position and transfer various size patients in the bed, to and from surgery bed and to and from wheelchair.
